Karen joined K&G in October 2017 as the Legal Assistant and Office Manager. She became an Associate Attorney in November 2018 after being officially sworn in as a Massachusetts attorney. In addition to heading the firm’s estate & trust department, Karen also focuses her practice on domestic and family law.
Karen graduated from Williams College in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in English and Philosophy. She then earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of New Haven before completing her Juris Doctor at Saint Louis University School of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude in 2013. While in law school, Karen worked at the Saint Louis University Center for Aviation Safety Research, where she researched error reporting systems and data protection issues in high-consequence industries. She also served as an intern for the Public Benefits and Advocates for Family Health units of Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. In addition, Karen was a Staff Editor on the Journal of Health Law and Policy and won the Academic Excellence Award in Legal Issues for Hospital Governance and Patient Care.
Before moving to Massachusetts, Karen practiced law in Connecticut, working at a small trusts and estates firm. Prior to that, she worked in long term care as an admissions coordinator. Karen also spent several years teaching before joining K&G (an experience she shares with K&G Partner Karen Greenberg, another former teacher). Karen currently lives in Norwood with her husband and son. Her favorite things include New Haven pizza, Robert B. Parker novels, and the Great British Baking Show. If you want to make her smile next time you come into the office, talk to her about your favorite Parks and Rec episode (and if you haven’t seen Parks and Rec, go check it out!).
